STUDENTS at Pleckgate High School had a chance to quiz their local council leader on democracy and citizenship during a special presentation.
The Year 10 pupils heard Blackburn with Darwen Council leader Bill Taylor talk about the importance of becoming involved in citizenship at an early age and answered questions set by the youngsters.
The students' presentation covered what the council did locally that affected their lives, national government, political parties and the role of the local MP.
Coun Taylor said: "This is the second year we have offered these visits to high schools.
"Last year they proved very successful and popular as schools got to grips with the new curriculum in citizenship.
"It is, of course, non-party political and well received by both students and staff.
"You never know I could be talking to a head of year or council leader of the future!"
Schools wanting more information relating to the citizenship visits can call Diane Hill or Tara Duce on 01254 585757 to discuss dates that are still available.
