REGARDING Mr Tom Smith's comments (Letters, May 21) about the two Conservative councillors in Corporation Park Ward, Blackburn. I agree that it is not right for Coun Graham Pound to live in one town and then take monies for not doing what he was elected to do.
He should resign and let another person step forward who is willing to perform their elected duties.
However, Mr Smith criticises Coun Paul McGurty and says he should also go, citing Labour councillor Dave Harling as a shining example of how a councillor should be.
This is absolute rubbish. Since his election, Coun McGurty has been the only elected representative actually making a stand for this ward. He is always available to talk to, tackle any problem my family and I have had in the area and he has been happy to do so.
I have always voted Labour, but I will certainly be voting forre-electing Coun McGurty, should he be standing next time. He should not be held accountable for the actions of one of his colleagues.
Mr Smith would be well advised to look at what each councillor does in this area and he will discover it's the man and his actions that count for the wellbeing of this community and not political bias.
DAVE CRAWLEY, Revidge, Blackburn.
