POLICE in Burnley are appealing for information about a drive-by shooting in which a car was damaged.
The incident happened around 6.20pm on Saturday when a vehicle drove along Carlton Road at speed.
It stopped halfway along the street and one of the occupants shot at a car parked beside it.
It then sped off along Carlton Road away from Manchester Road.
DS Steve Mounsey, of Burnley CID, said: "One of the occupants fired a shot gun of some description at a Mitsubishi vehicle parked there, causing damage to the passenger door.
"There were people in Carlton Road, Albion Street, Palatine Square and St Matthew's Street who may have seen the vehicle travelling at speed with at least two white male occupants, possibly four.
"We are still speaking to witnesses and following a number of lines of inquiry.
"Because of the manner the vehicle was driven along the road, it would have been obvious to the public that it was slightly unusual.
"We need any indication as to the make, model and registration number of the vehicle or the identity of any of the occupants.
"It was a sunny evening and we know there were a number of people on the street. It is an unusual incident."
No one was injured and there was only a small hole in the car door.
Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or DC Hanson and DC Cooper on 01282 472240.
