THREE classrooms at the old Accrington Boys' Grammar School were destroyed in a suspected arson attack.
The Queen's Road West building, which was part of Moorhead High School until it moved into one £4 million site last September, is up for sale by Lancashire County Council.
It was rumoured the 1960s building was going to be bought by St Christopher's CE High School to use as an A-level building. No-one from either school nor Lancashire County Council could be contacted for comment today.
A fire service spokesman said officers tackled the blaze for more than two hours.
He suspected children were responsible for the number of small rubbish fires which had been lit inside the building.
One fire spread across the first floor, destroying the classrooms, he said.
