ENTERTAINER John Murdoch has dedicated his latest poem to the people who care for his daughter.
A plaque the Burnley-based Scottish entertainer designed with a poem entitled "A Tribute to Harry and Eileen" has been dedicated to the owners of Crawshaw Hall, Crawshawbooth, where his handicapped daughter Heather, 32, lives.
Harry and Eileen also helped care for John's mother Betty, when the home opened in 1987 before she passed away, which he also notes in the poem. John, 65, of Barclay Avenue, Burnley, said: "They provide excellent care and are such nice people that I wanted to show them how much I appreciate what they do day and night for Heather.
"I am well looked after when I go there and even have a bed to myself as I am getting on a bit now.
"Heather has brain damage and we have looked after her most of our lives, but when I found out I had bowel cancer I didn't have the strength or ability to look after her, which is when she went to live with Harry and Eillen.
"From what we can see she is very happy there and gets a great deal of care from two of the nicest people I know and, of course, their excellent staff."
Harry Karoo, owner of Crawshaw Hall, said: "We opened the centre for people over the age of 18 with mental and physical disabilities in 1995, which is where Heather is staying.
"We are most grateful to John for the plaque and for his help when he comes to visit Heather. It gives us a good feeling to know there are people like John around who appreciates all the hard work that goes into caring for people.
"The poem is something from the heart, which makes it even more special to us and we thank him for his support."
