WORK to end violence against women in the borough has been given a £19,406 Government grant.
The cash will help a project at Fairfield General Hospital dedicated to reducing domestic violence, rape and sexual assault.
The scheme was set up on a temporary basis three years ago as part of a nationwide Government commitment to research the best ways of tackling domestic violence, from encouraging victims to report the crime to carrying out prosecutions.
The extra funding, part of a £2 million Government handout to similar projects nationwide, will allow the hospital-based scheme to develop its services.
