MEETINGS of the Friendly Hour are held at the Village Hall on Tuesdays, where a warm welcome is extended to everyone.

There is no admission charge and no subscription fee to join the group.

Recently, members visited the Fylde coast, with a stop for lunch at Lytham followed by a visit to a garden centre.

This week's meeting featured an illustrated talk entitled "Beautiful Northern Counties".

Cliviger Guides will be serving toasted tea cakes in Church House after the family service on Sunday 8 June, which starts at 9.30am.

All proceeds will go to St John's Church.

Application is to be made by the parish council to Burnley Borough Council's Capital Opportunities Fund for four new benches and two finger posts.

Money will also be requested to refurbish the five notice boards in the parish.

Local police have been informed of complaints by residents regarding young people hanging around the play area in Park Road until late at night.

Residents near the play area are being disturbed by noise, and beer cans have been left about the area.

Concerns have been raised regarding the wall repair work in Red Lees Road near the Fighting Cocks.

The work has been ongoing for some time and the traffic lights are causing problems.

Lancashire County Council are to be asked for a completion date for the work.

The parish council have been informed that new tenants at Scout Farm are preventing access to the public right of way through the property.

A letter is to be sent to the tenant advising him that there is public access through the farm, Worsthorne Estates, who own the farm, will also be informed.
