THE Mayor of Pendle, Councillor Mohammad Iqbal, was invited to look round Hodge House allotments in Nelson during a community open day.
Pendle Community Network and friends hosted the event, which included a marquee, displays and a barbeque, so that visitors could find out what was being planned for the site.
A project funded by Pendle Partnership will provide an environmentally friendly centre consisting of meeting/training room kitchen, toilets and a large tool store designed for wheelchair access for the benefit of local people.
The open day also celebrated the launch of the new Garden-Able project, which has been specially designed for people with disabilities.
It is supported by Lancashire County Council Social Services, Wheels and Feet and the Ecroyd Centre. Pendle Environmental Action Group carried out the construction work on this project.
