A GRIEVING mother today told of her heartache after finding out she won't be able to give her son one last hug before his funeral.

Adam Maden, 32, of High Town, Whitewell Bottom, was discovered on Friday by a friend who climbed in through his bedroom window after he had not been seen for two days.

Jean Maden, 60, of Booth Crescent, found out last night that her son's body would be released on Friday.

The coroner is carrying out more tests before a cause of death can be established.

Undertakers told Mrs Maden it would be best to keep the coffin closed to avoid distressing mourners, but now Jean won't be able to say one last goodbye to her youngest son.

Adam, a former model, worked as a stone-mason for Acorn Stone Merchants, Nelson, but was also a bouncer in Accrington and Rawtenstall and was well known throughout East Lancashire for his martial arts skills.

A former pupil at Fearns High School, Bacup, he was well known for participating in kick boxing, Thai boxing and karate competitions.

His family say friends from all over the world have been sending their condolences with people from America, Germany, London and Glasgow attending the funeral.

Jean said: "The undertaker has said the coffin should be closed but I don't care what Adam looks like I just want to be able to hold him for one last time and it's awful to think that I am not going to be able to do that."

His parents including his six older brothers and sister are still coming to terms with his sudden and tragic death.

The funeral is to be held at St Anne's, Waterfoot, on Friday at noon. Family and friends will be going to Rossendale United Football Club, Dark Lane, following the funeral.
