GAWTHORPE High School features on the front page of Nestle's Break Times magazine. The article explains that the roaring success of the two vending machines installed in the school have financial benefits for the children who use them.

Their profits have funded new equipment for the school's new sports hall and re-floored the old gymnasium.

PADIHAM Town Council heard about training opportunities for new councillors which will be made available to them by Coun Len Watson, who offers training facilities through the Lancashire Association of Town and Parish Councillors.

HAPTON with Park ward is gearing up for the by-election on Thursday, June 19. This is caused by the resignation of Kevin Birchall.

The contest is being fought by the former Labour councillor for the ward, Andy Tatchell, Andrew Kenyon, (BNP), Alan Marsden (Conservative), Peter McCann (Liberal Democrat) and Carol Stinton (independent).

HAPTON'S Playgroup now has vacancies for children aged from two years to school age. The playgroup meets at the Methodist Church on Whitefield Street on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the sessions start at 9.15am and finish at 11.15am.

IT IS expected that the renovation work in progress at Hapton School will be finished on July 4, leaving a fine welcome for the 20 children expected in the new reception class in August.
