A PRESTON footballer will be giving Brazil a run for their money this week when he shows off his footwork in the 2003 World Fives in Malaysia.
Paul Osborne, of Fulwood Hall Lane, has been selected to play for the five-a-side world tournament in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
The England team jetted off last Saturday and have ten days to play against other countries in the indoor variation of football called futsal.
The game has slightly different rules with a 'roll-on/roll-off' system of subs and the England squad of 12, will have only five players on the pitch at any one time.
"I think I may need some rest at the end of this," Paul said, "I'm not great with Asian food either so I hope they can cater for my more basic tastes!" The 19-year-old centre midfielder has already been recognised for his ball skills, being signed for Morecambe FC.
Paul said: "I don't know any of the other people taking part but I'm sure we'll all pull together quickly.
"It's very exciting. Brazil are our first opponents and this game is really popular in South America so I hope they aren't too good."
Paul is studying for a degree in sport studies and health at Lancaster University although his dream is to become a professional footballer. And despite the fact he plays for Morecambe, Paul admits his heart is still with Preston North End.
