ALWIN Thompson, managing director of Inter Link Foods, said: "We are very proud to be involved with the Pride of East Lancashire Campaign and in particular with this award for Children of Courage.

"When Inter Link Foods plc started in 1994, it was not the successful business it is today.

"It began when we acquired a loss-making factory in Blackburn and the group displayed many attributes like courage, perseverance and cheerfulness in adversity during those early stages of development.

"One of the reasons we chose to back this award was because the children who will be nominated hold many of the same attributes and many more beside in abundance.

"There are some exceptional stories of child bravery in all manner of situations and these youngsters ought to be given the recognition that they deserve.

"As a company we want to be involved in this award and I would like to meet some of the kids myself and hear their stories.

"For that reason we are going to invite some of the nominees for this award to come to Inter Link Foods plc for a special tour and a chance to enjoy some of our products -- we want to give them a day to remember and make them feel important.

"But in order for youngsters to be able to shine and have their stories of bravery told people need to put pen to paper and nominate them for this award."
