AN 93-YEAR-OLD woman is still in hospital almost a week after a being struck by a police car which was chasing car thieves through the streets of Blackpool.
Ivy Leonard, of Manchester Road in Layton, was hit by a squad car as she walked her dog on Newton Drive at around 1.15pm on Thursday, May 29.
The road was closed for two hours as paramedics and a police accident investigation unit arrived at the scene. It is believed that the car was displaying flashing lights and sounding its emergency siren when the accident occurred. Mrs Leonard was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital suffering from a broken shoulder and a cracked pelvis.
