DRUG users on a Blackpool estate are being encouraged to get on the bus to get off their addiction.

The Drug Out Bus, a mobile resource centre run by the Christian charity, Helping Hand, has already helped many addicts across Blackpool join rehabilitation programmes.

Now, the bus is moving in to Grange Park, and Helping Hand workers, including many former addicts, are being joined by representatives of Blackpool Drug Action Team, Drugline, Blackpool Community Development Unit and UNITE, an organisation for the families of drug users.

Local councillor, Les Kirsch, said: "I've been a fan of the Drug Out Bus since 1996 when, as mayor of Blackpool, I was invited to the launch."

"I'm a firm believer in organisations working together to serve the community and this initiative is a prime example of that. It's great news that the bus will make its debut on Grange Park and I'm sure many will take the opportunity to see what it has to offer."

The bus will be on the estate every Tuesday evening from 6.30-9pm, in the car park behind the presbytery on Gateside Drive.
