CLAYTON over-40 veteran Anna Kelly was a convincing winner in the Burnley Boys Club 10K Trail Race to open a commanding lead in the Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix.
Kelly clocked 43:04 over a tight three lap course which includes roads and the canal towpath.
Run in temperatures of 80 degrees, it is surprising that five records fell on the day, four of them to Clayton Harriers including Kitty Garnett's new mark of 58:14 in the F65 class.
Men's winner Neil Tattersall of Pendle AC was just nine seconds outside the record in 33:52 as he led home Clayton 5/8s over 40 veteran Mark Aspinall by 84 seconds.
Exactly a minute later in 36:15, Evan Cook finished third setting a new M50 record for Blackburn Harriers. Barry Mitchell lowered the M55 record by 30 seconds to 40:51, while Ross Jaques continues to impress breaking the M60 and M65 records with 45:15.
