DEFENDING champions Burnley staked their claim for this year's Standard Life North West Seniors Golf League title by winning their first two games in convincing style.
They opened up with a 4-2 home win over Mytton Fold before a fine 5 - victory over much-fancied Wilpshire.
However, Wilpshire, champions in 1999 and 2000, turned in another of the best performances of the season so far with a 5- win of their own, away to De Vere.
Nelson gained a draw away at Mytton Fold then continued their good start with a telling 5- victory over struggling Ingol.
Results up to and including May 30: De Vere 5 Ingol ; Mytton Fold 4 Ingol 1; Mytton Fold 3 Nelson 3; De Vere 3 Longridge 3; Longridge 5 Mytton Fold 1; Nelson 5 Ingol ; De Vere Wilpshire 5; Burnley 4 Mytton Fold 2; Mytton Fold 4 De Vere 1; Ingol 5 Mytton ; Burnley 5 Wilpshire .
