ACCRINGTON'S Trevor Foster was instrumental in winning the War of the Roses.
Foster was part of the Lancashire team that beat its Yorkshire rivals on their own patch on Saturday.
He teamed up with Bolton's Simon Walsh to win 5 and 4 in the morning foursomes at Wakefield, which Lancashire won 5-1.
Foster then lost 5 and 4 in his singles game but Lancashire took the overall game 11-7.
Pleasington's Michael Hunt will join Foster in the Lancashire team that takes on Cheshire at Portal Golf Club this Saturday.
Meanwhile, at Accrington on Saturday, Neville Graham was the trophy winner with +9 at the club's Rowland Bowl competition.
Chris Seed won Division One with +7 and Tony Wade took the Division Two prize on +3 after a card play-off.
Gerry Dixon came out on top in Division Three with +5 and Tony Grogan's +6 won him Division Four.
There was also an award for the best gross score, which went to Ian Hardman for his 72.
On Sunday, the Captain's Fourth Qualifying Competition at Accrington was won by Mark Wilkinson in Division One with 74-8=66.
Other winners were: Division Two Tony Whipp (77-13=64), Division Three Val Rehal (80-=15=65), Division Four Andrew Wood (84-21=63).
