A LEIGH family are devastated after two greyhounds ripped their cat and kitten to bits.
Now the family, who wish to remain anonymous, are calling for all racing dogs to be muzzled to prevent further horror.
The victim said the fourth-months-old kitten, Lucky, was sunbathing in the garden while four-years-old Poppy was on banking.
She said a woman was walking in the Hulme Road area with five greyhounds, and two which were lose and unmuzzled, ran into the garden and snatched and ripped the kitten apart in front of her heartbroken children's eyes.
They then caught and chased the mother cat when she jumped down to save her baby and killed her too on Sunday.
She said: "The woman said she was so sorry, but that's not good enough. The dogs were pulling the kitten apart like a rag doll. My oldest son had seen both cats being born and they were is. Both boys were hysterical.
"I have contacted the police, RSPCA and Cats' Protection League and hope to see some action.
"Those dogs could have turned on my children. They have caused enough heartache and people should be warned against these killer greyhounds, which should be kept on a lead and muzzled at least."
