A 59-year-old lorry driver from Padiham was bound over to keep the peace after an argument with his neighbour.
Stuart Liversage of Town Hill Bank was summoned to Burnley Magistrates after an argument with his neighbour on May 3 erupted into violence.
The court was told that Liversage, who was described as being of previous good character, was originally charged with assault by beating.
Representing Liversage Mr Lawson told the court his client accepted being in an argument that came to blows.
The assault charge was withdrawn and Liversage admitted a breach of the peace. Sentencing Liversage Judge Firth said: "There was an ongoing dispute with your neighbour and you have taken steps to bring that to an end, but the court must ensure there is no repeat of what happened in May."
Liversage was bound over in the sum of £200 for 12 months.
