After all the gangster movies and thrillers of late we welcome back Shah Rukh Khan in this romantic drama.
There are high hopes for Chalte Chalte...and it's been a long time since we've seen the Shah Rukh take to the screen. Whilst the story is all to familiar at least it tackles some of the trials and tribulations of married life.
Shah Rukh plays high flyer Raj who meets Priya (Rani Mukerjee) mistakingly whilst sitting behind the wheel in a truck. There's hope for truck drivers yet!
A couple of songs later and the two are madly in love...so much so they decide to get married.
Normally, it would take a Bollywood movie three hours to get to this stage but here they manage it in far less time.
As the two begin to find out more about each others personalities petty arguments ensue and it quickly dawns on them that married life is not all it was cut out to be.
As the clashes between the two continue the idea of separation becomes all the more appealing until...somehow memories of how things were rescue our estranged couple. It is refreshing to see that the little things matter in Chalte Chalte and whilst the script is a bit laborious at times romantic dramas such as this tend to pull in the crowds.
The soundtrack isn't too bad either and that always helps.
The film's obvious added attraction is the pairing of Shah Rukh with Rani. The two have featured in films together in the past such as Kabhie Khushi and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai but always alongside such luminaries as Amitabh and Kajol. Both of those were films were blockbusters.
