EUROVISION songwriter Martin Isherwood has had the last laugh.
Critics derided Cry Baby, the song that earned pop duo Jemini the dubious distinction of being the first UK act to score nil points in the Eurovision Song Contest.
But Martin's song entered the charts on Sunday at number 15!
"I'm very pleased. Given the adverse publicity and the circumstances I think it's an extremely respectable result," said Martin (38) who was born in Radcliffe.
"There were 14 new chart entries and I think Jemini were the fourth highest. They beat The Stereophonics and when you consider the top 10 is filled with such established acts as Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake, Jemini have made a strong impact."
Martin, a former pupil of St Mary's Primary School in Radcliffe, added that the record had sold out in major record stores in Manchester and London.
"I'm just hoping that it's put on radio playlists to give it an even bigger boost."
