Eleven-year-old Kamran Ashraf got to play the world number two Ronnie O'Sulivan when the world Snooker star came to Acrrington recently.

The youngster from Nelson was two of three young tournament winners on the night who played Ronnie who was also on hand to present trophies to the winners.

Kamran's Father Rahat said: "He was overjoyed to be playing Ronnie. Obviously Ronnie didn't give a chance in the frames they played but it was all good fun."

Kamran's family all turned up to watch the Lomeshaye Primary School pupil pick up four cheques and trophies on the night. More than 400 snooker fans also turned up to watch the games.

In the under 14s tournament he notched up breaks of 47 and 43 on his way to winning the competition.

To get his chance to play Ronnie O'Sullivan Kamran had earlier won an under 13s competition at Burnley Snooker Hall and an Under 16s tournament in Nelson. To guarantee his showdown he had to win the under 14s and under 16s competitions in Accrington.

Kamran plays at the Chalkers Snooker Club in Nelson and only took the game up 14 months ago.
