ONCE again I am being subjected to a tirade. "Logical Lancastrian" (Yours Truly, May 22) has not only got it wrong but hides behind a veil of anonymity.

When I write a letter I do so in my own name and not on behalf of CARE (Care and Respect for the Elderly), an organisation of which I am a member. CARE is a democratic organisation made up of individuals united by a common cause and, not unlike political parties, is run on party lines.

The reason I attack the Labour Party is because they are in power and, if I want to achieve certain aims, then this is the party I have to influence. What is to be gained by attacking the political opposition?

It was my sister, not I, who signed the nomination paper for a Conservative candidate in the recent elections: a person, I would add, who has offered us much assistance in the past. However, had I been asked, I would have signed the nomination paper.

I did not attack Councillor Gill Campbell personally, although I would not agree that she was "a good and effective councillor" because I don't think that about any of the present council. I was merely pointing out that perhaps the people of Prestwich had taken a little revenge following the despicable closing of Claremont EPH.

And does "Logical Lancastrian" think that the two out of the nine Radcliffe councillors who were bottom of the "attendance league" are "good and effective councillors"?

I am but one humble voter and cannot believe that I have got Bury MBC so concerned that I should be subjected to all these attacks. All I can say is that I must have got them worries, so I will continue with my struggle.
