A youth worker was presented with a certificate from youngsters at a community centre.
The youngsters wanted to honour Shabeer Kareem for his outstanding committment and support over the past two years which has seen the youth group become very popular with kids from all sections of the community.
One youngster who now helps out at the centre is 15-year-old Jason Currie. He told us, "We thought it would be a good iodea to thank Shabeer for his support. At times he was the only one who really understands."
Activities at the youth group include everything from sporting events to weekends away. The youth group meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm anbd a seperate female only group takes place on Thursday evening.
Shabeer said, "It's all about challenging the myths regarding young people. Whilst we have a lot of activities at the centre we like to have informal education sessions with the youngsters about issues that effect them."
"We have a good team here and I think this presentation is also for the work of Kiran Hussain, Atibar Shiekh and Javed Iqbal."
