SUPPORTERS and opponents of Leigh Sports Village plans got the chance to air their views at a public meeting held at Hilton Park last week.
Leigh Sports Partnership and presented their case to concerned residents last Friday highlighting reasons why they believe the proposed £75million Sports Village should go ahead.
The meeting attracted just 25 people but concept promoter and Leigh Sports Partnership Chairman Trevor Barton said despite the poor turnout it had been a useful exercise.
He said: "It was good to present our case to those people who oppose the Sports Village, and get some feedback. We are trying to raise the public awareness about the content, design and community benefits of the proposed project. But we are trying to get as much feedback from the public as possible on all aspects of the project."
Mr Barton said he hoped as many people as possible could attend the next public meeting tonight (Thursday) at the Mick Martyn Suite, Hilton Park, at 7.30pm.
And he said if anyone had missed last week's public meeting they could go online and view the presentation on the Sports Village website.
The website, which was set up less than two weeks ago, has already attracted over 750 hits.
