COMPETITION was sizzling in the 'Hot in Atherton' window dressing challenge.

So hot that Greenhalgh's Craft Bakery and Ray's Fashions shared victory in a dead heat.

Delighted prize winners June Roberts and Janet Rowlands are looking forward to a summer shopping spree on Market Street. They each scooped £100 worth of Atherton shopping vouchers after their names were picked from the votes received for the two winning windows.

Greenhalgh's cooked-up a mouth watering window display adding a tropical touch to their range of tasty treats, proving a hot favourite with local shoppers. Ray's Fashion's provide a ray of sunshine, transforming their window into a delightful desert island hide away complete with pineapples and palm trees. SSAFA Charity Shop took second place, with Mr S Dodge collecting £50 worth of shopping vouchers.

The competition was funded by SRB5 Atherton Building Communities and captured the imagination of local shoppers. Local businesses attracted a total of 1,420 votes between them.

Magnificent displays brightened up the town and provided a great deal of enjoyment for everyone that took part. Not surprisingly competition was extremely close.
