A £42,000 Government cash boost has gone to a Leigh firm to develop a device which will reduce vehicle fuel consumption and cut emissions.
Leigh firm DESCo Research Ltd received a grant of £42,292 through the Government's Small Business Service's Smart programme, which provides grants to help individuals and small businesses develop ideas.
And the company, which is located in Brook Mill, plan to use the money to develop a Retrofit Electronic Engine Control system (REEC) for vehicles using carburettors, which they believe will reduce exhaust emission by 25 per cent and fuel consumption by 20 per cent.
