IF absentee Blackburn councillor Graham Pound (LET, May 29) has an ounce of honour he will resign today. I could not justify taking taxpayers' money and not doing what I was elected to do.
So for Blackburn Conservative members to allow this shows that many of them have little honour when it comes to issues such as this.
The fact remains, if the Conservative members are worried they may lose a by-election, they should be more worried about the vast numbers of Conservatives in the borough who will not support them again while they condone such a flagrant abuse.
As for Blackburn Conservative Association chairman Joe Smith, saying this situation is best for the electorate -- who is he trying to kid? This is plainly a situation engineered to prevent the loss of another Tory councillor.
This sorry state of affairs should end now. And if party leaders had any backbone, they would help bring this about.
