A 20-YEAR-OLD girl drifted into the world of drugs after falling under the Svengali-like influence of a man 10 years older than her, a court was told.

Blackburn magistrates heard the situation was every parent's worst nightmare.

And the nightmare became a living reality when the girl fell pregnant and the man turned his back on her.

Faye Hindle, of Fair View, Huncoat, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and racially aggravated threatening behaviour.

She was made subject to a community rehabilitation order for 12 months.

The magistrates included a condition that she attends a substance related offending programme, but delayed starting the course until after the birth of her baby.

The court heard that the police assault was committed as Hindle tried to prevent officers from arresting her boyfriend for driving while disqualified.

The following day, when police again tried to arrest him, Hindle shouted racist threats at an Asian officer.

Michael Blacklidge, defending, said the older man with whom Hindle became involved had a Svengali-like influence over her.

"This was every parents worst nightmare," said Mr Blacklidge.

"He parents are publicans who had a pub in Great Harwood before moving to Accrington and they were devastated when their daughter got involved in drugs."
