THE way the department at Blackburn Town Hall in charge of waste collection goes about its job is rubbish.
Six bags of the stuff in my case were left by the binmen -- not my rubbish, mind you but those collected from Saunders Road and deposited at my front gate in the hope the binmen would feel generous and actually take them away. But no.
I phoned the town hall, who told me I should have contacted another department if I had excess bags. I explained had they belonged to me I may have.
The same situation also arose at the back of Palatine Road. Bags have been left as well as things the binmen don't take -- carpets, furniture, etc. This was in the same week as a wagon turned up and cleared dumped furniture from the area.
So the binmen have done a half job, the roadsweeper has wasted his time and so has the driver of the wagon.
If Blackburn with Darwen is serious about cleaning up this pig-sty of a town they're going about it like they've always gone about it.
If you have a policy, councillors, change it.
Thanks to the help of Coun Mohammed Khan, the mess was cleared the following day.
