RESIDENTS in the Edge End area of Brierfield had to collect water from mobile tanks at the end of their streets after a water main burst.
The incident happened at around 10.15am on Monday and water to several streets was turned off while repairs could be made to the pipe.
A spokesman for United Utilities said: "We sent a special vehicle that brings emergency tanks of water that can be dropped off at the end of each street.
"Supplies were restored as soon as the burst was repaired at about 7.30pm."
