RESIDENTS in Rossendale, Burnley and Pendle can now enjoy easier access to the Yorkshire Dales with the X43 bus service now running every Sunday from Manchester.
The service operated by Burnley & Pendle Travel (B&P) with funding from the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Countryside Agency to link Manchester and East Lancashire to Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
B&P was first funded to operate the service at the height of the foot and mouth disease two years ago as a means of bringing much needed visitors into the National Park to support small local businesses.
Despite all footpaths being closed, the X43 proved so popular with Lancashire visitors that the single deck coaches originally used were quickly replaced by 74-seater double deckers.
The X43 will run each Sunday and Bank Holiday until September 28. It departs from Manchester Chorlton Street at 8.47am, calling at Rawtenstall Bank Street at 9.33am and Burnley Bus Station at 10am to arrive at Skipton Bus Station at 11.07am and Grassington National Park Information Centre at 11.27am.
The return journey starts from Grassington at 5pm, arriving at Skipton Bus Station at 5.20pm, Burnley Bus Station at 6.30pm, Rawtenstall Bank Street at 6.58pm and arriving at Manchester Chorlton Street at 7.42pm.
