WORKERS at a Great Harwood engineering site were conducting their first one-day strike today.
Fifty mains layers and road resurfacers from the McAlpine plant in Heys Lane, Great Harwood, walked out after pay talks with managers reached a stalemate.
The men, who were supported by some 50 workers at plants in Blackpool and Bolton, say they have not had a pay rise for two-and-a-half years.
The Great Harwood workers walked out for one day in February and say management have offered them a bonus scheme. But they insist a starting point on their wages.
The pickets were joined by representatives from the GMB Union. Other one-day strikes are planned throughout the month.
