A NEW DIY superstore is definitely on the way to Blackburn, developers announced today.
Henry Boot Developments, of Sheffield, has confirmed that B&Q will anchor its new retail park in Blackburn.
The firm secured planning permission to transform the Nova Scotia mill site in the Townsmoor area of the town.
B&Q will operate one of its Warehouse stores inside a 100,000 sq ft building.
The remaining 38,500 sq ft is arranged into three units, all of which are under offer to national retailers.
Roger Brady, director of Henry Boot developments, said: "We have worked closely alongside Blackburn with Darwen Council to bring forward this exciting development which, when completed in July 2004, will create some 300 new jobs for the area."
The development as a whole will cost £31million.
Deepan Khiroya, head of Out of Town Retail for ISIS Property, the firm putting up the cash for the scheme, said: "Out of town retail parks of this size are a rarity and with the strong tenant line-up, bulky goods consent, this acquisition is a valuable addition to our retail warehouse portfolio.
