A MAN who grabbed a burglar as he left a neighbour's kitchen has been praised by a judge.
Wayne Unsworth, who was with an unknown man and a woman, had been seen in the kitchen of a house in Walmesley Road, Leigh.
When challenged Unsworth tried to bluff it out by claiming it was his friend's house but Wayne Babyneck knew the occupants. Unsworth tried to escape, became abusive and swung a punch but Mr Babyneck got him in an arm lock marched Unsworth into the street and asked a neighbour to call police.
Unsworth, 18, of Westcroft, Platt Bridge, admitted one charge of burglary when he appeared at Bolton Crown Court for sentence.
Prosecutor Ann Hughes said the burglary victims were watching TV in the front room when two men and a woman were seen in their back garden.
Recorder Arthur Noble said Mr Babyneck showed courage and presence of mind and was to be commended for his actions. He saw Unsworth inside the kitchen and challenged the man and woman who quickly left. Unsworth
said he committed the burglary after a day spent drinking with friends.
Unsworth was sentenced to 18 months in youth custody.
