FIREFIGHTERS battled for an hour to put out a blaze at a timber factory in Leigh.
Fire crews were called to the Pine Products factory, off Mather Lane, at 7.30pm last Wednesday after a passer-by noticed smoke coming from the factory. They managed to stop the fire spreading. It is believed to have been started by a discarded cigarette.
