WILL the idiots who let fireworks off all year ever stop to think of the upset they cause?
A furious Astley resident tells me his octagenarian mother-in-law was in bed at 10pm on Friday, May 31 when she was awakened by the sound of banging, and was scared someone was trying to break into her home.
I don't suppose he's the only one sick of the selfish firework fiends who care little for others' peace and quiet.
I agree with him that anyone who lets the things off out of season without a special licence should be fined a minimum of £1000.
But then the Private Members' Bill backed by Leigh MP Andy Burnham regarding the control and limited sale of fireworks is due back in the Commons for its third reading within the next few days and will certainly progress to become law before November.
Let's just hope it helps to put a damper on this modern day nuisance.
