TWO conmen posing as undercover police officers stole cash from an 84-year-old man after telling him they were investigating reports of counterfeit notes in the area.
He allowed the thieves into his home in Scobell Street, Tottington, at noon on Wednesday. They stole cash and escaped in a white car.
One man is described as white, aged in his late 40s, 6ft tall, of stocky build, possibly wearing glasses and missing the upper row of teeth. His accomplice was also white, aged 35 and 6ft tall. Anyone with information can call 0161 856 8150 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
PC John Flowers, of Bury Police, said: "People should never allow anyone into their home they are unsure of. Police officers always have identification."
