A CLUB which was a social mecca for generations of local people could be turned into a housing development.
Kevin Jenks, the owner of the once popular nightspot Benny's in Radcliffe, has submitted a change-of-use planning application.
Mr Jenks wants to build around ten mews-type houses on the four acres of land at Warthfold Road.
"The nightclub has been closed since last year. There was a lot of complaints from local residents about noise and disturbance caused by people leaving the club, so I decided that enough was enough," said Mr Jenks who has owned the club for the past seven years.
Also included in the application is a plan to turn the club's car park into a children's play area.
Benny's Nightclub served as one of the area's major entertainment nightspots since it was established in 1976.
Before then, the site was the home of the popular Farmer's Arms pub.
