VOLUNTEERS are needed to get a much-needed Darwen community cafe up and running.
Members of the Earcroft Community Association are looking to kick start a new meeting place for people in the surrounding community.
The cafe will be based in the Hawkshaw Avenue community base.
Michelle Rutherford, association chair, said: "We want to offer people a chance to get together in an informal setting, learn new skills, access and share advice and information on local issues.
"The kitchen is now ready for use and volunteers are waiting for the legally required training in basic food hygiene to enable them to serve food to people.
"We would appreciate any help from the public. New volunteers are always welcome."
The cafe will be open at breakfast time but opening times for the rest of the day have not yet been revealed.
