A BANNED driver escaped from a policewoman's grip after he was stopped and gave a false name, a court heard.
Burnley Crown Court heard how ex-convict Liaqat Ali, 35, broke free even though he had been cuffed on one arm. He left the officer shaking and suffering a broken, bleeding nail.
The defendant had never held a driving licence and a judge said if anybody should be staying away from cars, it should be him.
Ali resisted or obstructed the police each time he was stopped driving while disqualified, the court was told.
He was sent to jail for seven months by Recorder Beverley Lund, who told him the police were only doing their job.
She went on: "You have to co-operate with them, not they with you."
Ali, of Portland Street, Accrington, admitted driving while disqualified and motoring allegations and escape. He was banned for two years.
