A WOMAN has followed in her mother's footsteps to become the Darwen area chairman of the Ladies Circle.
Nicola Walkden-McGrady, of Lightbown Street, took up the prestigious position this month after years in the organisation.
Her mother, Janet, fulfilled the role from 1989 to 1990.
Janet said: "It's a great honour for Nicola and I'm very proud of her.
"She will cover the area from Darwen to Lancaster and Burnley to the Fylde Coast, attending special events and raising money.
"Although Darwen Round Table finished some years ago, the women's circle is still going strong but we are always on the look-out for new members."
Women aged between 18 and 45 are being urged to join the group.
Janet, now an honorary member, said: "We do a lot of charity work such as the Race For Life.
"This year, our chosen charity is the air ambulance so we will be doing a lot of fund-raising for them."
