YOUNG people have been revolutionising the way they eat at school thanks to a fun healthy eating campaign.
Pupils have been enjoying the delights of healthy food rather than junk food in school.
And as an incentive for pupils across Rossendale to take part in the healthy eating blitz prizes were also up for grabs.
The four week Spring Into Action campaign, which was organised by Lancashire County Commercial Services to encourage secondary school pupils to order a healthy school lunch, has proved a big success.
Pupils received prize draw tokens each time they ordered a meal, but were given more chances to win if they chose a healthy option.
Many of the young people from the schools which took part abandoned chips and cakes in favour of healthy pasta, jacket potatoes and fresh fruit.
Every school was presented with a prize for the winning pupil, including flying lessons in a light aircraft, museum passes, CD vouchers, make-up and beauty classes and vouchers for an action-packed day out at an outdoor pursuit centre.
Year seven pupil Josh Heyslop scooped first prize at Alder Grange High School in Rawtenstall and is now looking forward to his visit to an outdoor pursuit centre.
He said: "It was worth the eating healthy foods just to win the prize."
A Lancashire County Commercial Services spokesman added: "As part of our continued drive to encourage young people to eat healthily, the Spring Into Action campaign was a great success.
"We were pleased that so many of the pupils wanted to eat healthy food and hope the winners enjoy their prizes."
