YOUNGSTERS from Mellor St Mary's CE Primary School found themselves 'sprechen der Deutsche' when they visited the German department at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School.
And ten-year-old Alicia Wade tested the Blackburn school's new language laboratory with her Year 5 classmates.
The Arts, Science and Technology Morning also included lessons in Biology, Chemistry and History.
Pupils from different primary schools will be visiting during the rest of this week.
Gillian Latham, primary liaison co-ordinator at QEGS, said: "The children from Mellor really enjoyed their morning and were a credit to their school.
"The idea is to show them how life in senior school will be a little different from what they are used to, with all the new subjects to learn and lots of moving around.
"Hopefully the day will show them they have nothing to be afraid of."
