I SYMPATHISE with Sylvia Johnstone, a former nurse at Blackburn Infirmary, who was constructively dismissed because of being bullied at work (LET, June 3).
By all accounts, Mrs Johnstone was a popular and respected nurse with more than 30 years' unblemished service, volunteering for extra duties aimed at improving the quality of life for cancer patients.
The NHS can ill-afford to lose a dedicated nurse of this calibre.
Mrs Johnstone is to be admired for her stance on bullying. She has probably paved the way for other nurses to report any bullying in the workplace.
The job of nursing is stressful enough, without the added stress of being bullied.
I hope Mrs Johnstone can put this ordeal behind her and maybe have the confidence to resume her nursing career!
