THE future of a money-raising sewing circle in Burnley was today hanging by a thread.
For the Crowther Street Mob -- a band of women who have raised more than £100,000 for hospice care -- has lost all its textile suppliers.
And unless other East Lancashire mills now answer its SOS for remnants and surplus stock, the Mob will have to fold.
Formed 18 years ago, the circle meets once a week in Crowther Street to make a variety of fancy goods and home accessories, such as cushions, to sell in seven hospice shops in Burnley and Pendle.
Many of the 24 members, who come from all parts of Burnley, have lost members of their family to cancer.
Member Ann Branch said: "Over the years all our materials, such as fabric, elastic and hollow fibre filling, have been donated by generous local companies, but unfortunately they have either ceased trading or moved their operations elsewhere.
"We are now coming to the end of the supplies we have and unless we can find other companies willing to donate their surplus stock we will sadly have to fold.
"It would be such a shame, as we are all dedicated to doing our bit to help Hospice Care in Burnley and Pendle."
Anyone who can help the Mob is asked to contact Ann on 01282 429010.
