AN owner whose Jack Russell dog was attacked by a rottweiler wants the owner to fork out for the £200 vet bill.

Lynette Evans, 39, of Wordsworth Close, Oswaldtwistle, was devastated when three-year-old Molly was attacked.

A woman and five animals and a woman were attacked in Harvey Street last Thursday and a West Highland Terrier was put down as a result of its injuries.

Lynette was called out of work at the Christian coffee shop in Union Street to find Molly covered in blood.

She said: " Molly was lucky to keep her leg. She was covered in blood and I just couldn't believe what I was seeing.

"She had been attacked in the back garden and now she's had an operation and she came back home on Friday. She's still on drips and she has to go back for a check-up."

Lynette, a welfare supported single mother-of-four, will have trouble paying the vet's bill.

She said: "It's difficult for me to pay such large amounts. I'm furious with the owner of this rottweiler and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

"They need to own up to what they have done and they should be the one paying the bill, not me."

The vet's bill will increase at the end of June when Molly has her stitches out and is supplied with extra antibiotics.

"The dog that did this to her and the others should be put down," said Lynette. "What if that was a child? They wouldn't stand a chance against something that big."

Sgt Christine Driver of Accrington Police said: "The rottweiler is being held in kennels until a decision is made over how to proceed. We are making inquiries and talking with the dog's owner."
