IN response to Burnley Lib-Dem councillor Roger Frost (Letters, May 23), perhaps he should have a moan at the all-party Commons Committee which said: "The way government money is distributed in the regions may have heightened racial tensions in part of the North of England."

Councillor Frost fails to grasp the nettle and contradicts himself when he states that "some areas of Burnley...are entitled to SRB funding." Exactly my point -- "some areas."

So long as the SRB funding of restricted in this way, to areas entitled and not to people entitled, there will be a conflict of interest.

I would suggest that any moves made in the direction of equality when distributing the SRB funding in Burnley are not because the council see this as right, but because the ruling parties in Burnley are afraid to carry on regardless due to the fact that the British National Party now has a strong presence on the council. To ignore them is to ignore the ever-increasing support that they represent.

Councillor ROBIN EVANS (British National Party), Mill Hill Ward, Blackburn with Darwen Council.
