ANXIOUS family workers are waiting to hear news about their jobs this week - as union and county council officials meet to discuss new contracts.
Family Support Service workers in Lancaster and Morecambe, employed by Lancashire County Council, fear new conditions could be included in the deal, such as the potential for flexible working hours.
People with families of their own are concerned that the changes could force them to work weekends and evenings.
Unison has been negotiating with the council for some months but the latest offer was rejected by a ballot of members.
Branch secretary Carol Lukey said another meeting was due to be held today (Thursday).
"Negotiations are ongoing and there will be further meetings," she said.
A social services spokesman said: "We have discussed with the trade unions representing staff from the local family support services the changes and developments being proposed. All parties have been involved in a thorough negotiation and consultation over a considerable period to ensure all views could be considered."
He adds that revised changes were now being planned and all the people affected would continue to be consulted.
