THE horrors that can be caused when road safety is ignored will be brought to life in the coming weeks when police act out a road accident in Burnley.
The re-enactments are being staged to highlight the carnage that can be caused on the town's roads by reckless and irresponsible driving.
The event will involve local amateur actors who will play key roles in the accident such as victims and members of the public.
Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety and other emergency services including Paramedics and fire crews will attend the accident.
A re-enactment will also be staged at Barden High School at a later date to help promote child safety by highlighting the dangers on the roads.
A spokesman for Pennine Road Safety, said: "The re-enactments are part of an initiative to help promote awareness on the roads.
"Many accidents that happen on the roads can be avoided and we aim to help reduce accident numbers by educating.
"The re-enactments also give the emergency services chance to deal with realistic dilemmas.
"The re-enactment is not based on any real-life accident but will be realistic and fairly typical of the type of accidents which can happen on our roads."
The first is being staged on Colne Road, Burnley on the dual carriageway section between 1pm and 2pm on Friday, 27 June.
The schools mock-up will take place at Barden High on Wednesday, July 2.
